Established in 1938, Stavropol State Medical
Academy is recognized to be one among the top five medical institutions
in the Russian Federation. Nearly 3500 Russian and over 500 foreign
students from 18 countries are enrolled for courses in Medicine,
pediatrics, Dentistry and Nursing. The Post Graduate Faculty, one
of the largest in Russia, trains over 3000 physicians in 32 specialties
annually.
The pride of the academy is its highly skilled scientific and teach
staff. The academy has 70 chairs where 84 Doctors of Science, and
362 highly qualified professors including 23 members of the Russian
Academy of Medical Sciences, 43 Honored Physicians and 4 Honored
Scientists of the Russian Federation work. Many scientific research
papers having great value for practical public health submitted
to various congress ave found wide international recognition.
Stavropol State Medical Academy is one of the
few Russian Medical Universities recognized by the Medical council
of India. The Academy is also listed in the World Directory of Medical
Schools published by the World Health Organization.
Students of the Academy are encouraged to participate in different
research projects, working within the "Students and Young Researchers
Science Society", showing their results at annual conferences
and often winning prizes in all-Russian or international forms.
The Academy has a Liberia equipped with over 350000 books and periodicals.
It also has its own editions, the Academy newspaper "Medicus"",
and a scientific practice magazine.
