The Russian State Medical University, in Moscow, Founded in the year 1906 and formerly known as the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute, is among the earliest medical schools established in the Russian Federation. It is one of the most prominent and respected medical universities both in Russia and abroad, where over 7000 students, including over 600 international students, pursue their studies.

Since its inception, RSMU has been a leader in developing medical science and medical education. Today, it is a large medical, scientific and educational center noted for its extensive clinical and laboratory base and its highly qualified and trained teaching faculty comprising over 30 Academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, 8 Celebrated Scientists of Russia and over 700 Candidates of Science.

The students of the university, working for their academic degrees derive their training and specialization through the 108 chairs and 58 scientific research laboratories of the RSMU together with the 70 specialized clinics, hospitals and other preventive medical institutions housing more than 19000 beds. The library of the University houses more than 700000 volumes in Russian and other languages.

Although studies are the most important in a student's life, attention is also paid to sport and entertainment. The university has a Sport complex with facilities for games like Tennis, Volleyball etc.
