Irkutsk State Medical University |
The Irkutsk State Medical Univeristy, is situated in the city of Irkutsk
which is the largest city in Siberia & the administrative center
of the Irkutsk Oblast.
The university has been training international students from the year
1960. The first graduation of international students was held in 1996.
Students from Latin America, China, India, Israel, Korea, Ukraine
and 25 other countries comprise the currently 500 strong international
student body of the university. |

International students take an active part in
research work. Senior students attend Scientific Student;s Society
sittings of Therapy, Surgery and Gyaenacology, while junior students
can cope with Biochemistry, Pathology and other sciences. The scientific
and practical conferences of medical students are held each spring.
There are events connected with the national holidays in different
countries like Diwali of India, Holiday of light & holiday of
spring of Mongolia & so on. Students also celebrate the International
Student's Day on 17th November each year, the St Valentine;s Day
Ball etc. For recreation, students are encouraged to go out on excursions
to the Lake Baikal, the River Angara, the Ural Mountains and the
local museums and theatres.
